Wall-Y adds vertical vegetation to Ospedale Umberto I
The redevelopment of Ospedale Umberto I in Siracusa included the construction of the new Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and Sub-intensive Care Unit. In a healthcare project of this type, external architectural surfaces must support durability, visual quality, and environmental value without complicating construction.
Wall-Y was used as a modular vegetated wall solution for the project. Its high-resistance grid supports climbing plants and vertical vegetation, helping transform building surfaces into living architectural spaces.
For a hospital environment, this approach adds practical value. Vegetated walls can support better outdoor comfort, contribute to local heat reduction, and improve the perceived quality of spaces used by patients, visitors, and medical staff.
Wall-Y is suitable for exterior walls, facades, fences, screens, and vertical partitions. Its modular structure allows designers to integrate vegetation into the building envelope while keeping the solution technically simple, easy to implement, and visually controlled.
